- Directionless: All the drive in the world doesn't mean a damn thing if you don't have something to channel it into. Cheren's so focused on what he's doing, he hasn't really reflected on the why. "What else is there other than striving to become stronger?" Yeah. Yeah. What's he gonna do after that? He sure as heck doesn't know. A vague goal might be better than no goal, but you know what's better than both of those? A solid direction to go in with a goal at the end, which Cheren doesn't really have.

- Impatient: Cheren really doesn't like being made to wait around for things.
Canon Abilities: Canonically, Cheren is a baseline human with smarts and strategic know-how. As a Pokémon Trainer, he's skilled enough to keep up with the player character, even if he's just a couple steps behind in power level. In the direct sequels to Black and White, he's even made the rank of Gym Leader, who test trainers battling in the Pokémon League.

Characters are eligible for Undergrad at ages 18-19 and Graduate at ages 22 and on, but there is no upward age limit for Undergrad or Graduate programs, Daybreak Academy is very welcoming of nontraditional students. This factors mental age, so if your character is very young mentally even if they are older physically or vice-versa, they'll be placed in a grade appropriate to their age.)

- Has an actual direction as opposed to canon: Where Cheren's goal of "get strong and become the Champion" had no real thought put into it before, that's not really the case here--the AU version actually has an end goal he's working towards here, even if it's "get strong enough to beat back the Nightfall with sticks."
